All Zencare referrals are organic, helping to facilitate a great fit! There is a lot you can do to make the most out of your Zencare profile and help you stand out to your best-fit potential clients. Here are some top tips for increasing referrals through your page:

  • Enhance your Profile:
    • Book your Photo and Video Shoot: A professional photo and video shoot is included in your Zencare setup fee! We’ve found that therapy-seekers who watch an introductory video are 4x as likely to reach out afterward, so be sure to book your photo and video shoot.
      • If you've already held your shoot and would like to explore your options for a reshoot, learn more here!
    • Get Vetted: The Zencare-vetted badge signals to therapy-seekers that they'll be in trusted care. Take our 5min clinical standards assessment here to earn a vetted badge for adherence to best practices!
    • Enhance your Professional Statement: We've found that adding a professional statement to your profile has the greatest impact on boosting referrals! This guide walks you through how to write a great statement.
  • Boost your Search Visibility:
    • To help your practice appear in more filtered searches, you can add up to 20 areas of general expertise and treatment approaches. Maxing out the number of topics or treatment methods you feel comfortable exploring with therapy-seekers unlocks your profile's potential to appear in more searches.
    • Add a physical location to place your profile in front of folks who choose to search by city or zip code in addition to the state online level! If it's a home office, you can hide the address so it's not publicly available, and indicate the location as "not accepting" if you are currently offering online sessions only.
    • Set all the windows of time you typically have available to see clients (for example, afternoon or evening) to increase the range of searches your profile appears under! We recommend adding specific hours, even if they’re only estimates, so folks can get a better sense of your availability.
  • Add the Zencare therapist web badge to your website: Google search rankings (also known as 'search engine optimization' or SEO) depend heavily on the number of page views your page receives. Adding the web badge to your website shows that you’re a member of a trusted community, and helps drive more visitors to your page so that it moves up in search rankings!

  • Share your profile with referral agents so they know you have an online presence: Have you shared your profile with the 20 colleagues you used to work with at the hospital, university, or agency? Is your Zencare link in your email signature, on business card, and linked to your personal website? If the people who want to refer to you know that you have an online presence, they will be more likely to share your link with prospective clients and those clients will be more inclined to reach out to you as informed consumers.

We have also learned that sometimes, clinicians receive referrals through Zencare but they don't turn into ongoing clients. To build a successful practice and foster strong relationships with new patients, it's crucial to make a positive impression from the very start. Here are some key strategies to help you excel in your interactions:

  • Ace your phone consults: Read more about how to leave a lasting impact on therapy-seekers from that first phone call with them here.
  • Lower cancellation and no-show rates: Confirm appointments after your phone consult by text or email, and again 24 hours before the appointment.
  • Give a great experience: It goes without saying that word-of-mouth is a fantastic way to grow your practice, especially coupled with a great online presence to reach a different audience and help prospective patients be informed consumers. Folks who have a great experience will tell their friends and family members, as well as their psychiatrist, hospital case manager, and/or university referral coordinator. Make sure every therapy-seeker feels heard and understood, and every referral agent feels appreciated for working with you.
